How does activation work?

Frequently Asked Questions About Activation
May I use the software on more than one computer at a time?
Yes, the activation process for the standard SoftCafe license supports installation on up to two computers. The SoftCafe product
license agreement allows the primary user to install the product on a
primary computer and also a home or laptop computer for his or her use. If
you need to simultaneously use the software on more than 2
computers,
you can add more users to your license at a reduced cost.
How do I add users to my license?
From this website, click to your product's
page and then click the link for volume licensing and follow the
instructions there. You can add any
number of users to your license.
How will the activation information be used?
The unique License Number you receive when you purchase
the software is combined with a Installation ID that is automatically formed from the your
computer. When the product is activated, the Installation ID and the product
License Number are provided to SoftCafe to help ensure that each genuine
copy of its software is not activated more than the permitted number of
times. SoftCafe's activation process does not collect, transmit, or use any
personal information.
Will I be asked to activate each time I uninstall and
reinstall the product?
No, If you perform an uninstall and then install the
product again on the same computer, you will not be prompted to activate.
Do I have to reactivate if I reformat my hard drive or upgrade my
Computer?
No, SoftCafe product activation is not affected by
computer hardware changes, Windows updates, new operating system upgrades
(such as Windows Vista), or hard drive reformats.
What happens if I get a new computer and want to install the software on
the new computer?
You can deactivate your original computer so you can
then activate your new computer. Deactivating is as easy, anonymous, and
quick as the initial activation.
If I don't have access to the computer on which I originally activated
the software, can I still activate on the new computer?
If access to the original computer is not available,
you may not be able to activate on the new computer. For this reason, if
you're selling a computer or plan to no longer use it, make sure you've
deactivated first before you no longer have access to it.
I've already transferred my activation to a new computer. Can I go back
to using the software on the original computer?
Yes. To do this simply deactivate
the new computer and then re-activate the original computer.
How do I deactivate?
Go to your program's Help menu and select
Deactivate product.
Should I uninstall the software after deactivating?
No, it is not necessary to uninstall the software after
deactivating. Deactivating simply renders the copy of the software
installed on the computer unusable, unless it is activated again. If you
anticipate using the software on this computer in the future, you should
leave the software installed so you can then re-activate it.
Does uninstalling automatically deactivate my product?
No, uninstalling will not deactivate your product. If
your intention was to deactivate by uninstalling, you must reinstall your
product, then start the program, and then select Deactivate product from your
program's Help menu. You can then uninstall the product if you wish but it
is not required.
What happens if SoftCafe releases a newer version of the software? Will I still be able to activate the older
version?
Yes. Even after the older version of the product stops
shipping, you will still be able to activate your copy of the older product.
