Olive Branch Reviews
*** The Washington Gazette - August/08
This cozy bistro, run by head chef James Switton, opened three years ago and immediately took a place among Bethesda’s top dining spots. Although a wonderful atmosphere, the real action is on the plate. Outdoor seating, weather permitting, is your best bet - but the back dining room is also interesting as it offers a view into the kitchen, but you mainly see the chefs’ heads.
Best foods: Salad and pasta lovers for the pristine greens and hand-cut noodles.
Best dishes: Rich and creamy watercress soup; salad with perfectly baby spinach leaves; sesame crusted yellowfin tuna with scallions, shiitakes & carrots - one of the best dishes in the DC area.
Other comments: The wine list is disappointing, with a thin selection and big markups. But don't let this discourage from stopping by and giving this relatively new place a try. Their menu changes frequently but it's updated on their web site daily.
